Back to it!

It's been too long!  I've not had the urge to write anything or to sew very much but that is starting to change.  Maybe I'm just getting old but I have been so tired and fed up.  I'm now trying to give up the lethargy with lots of shows to do and a new project on the horizon too.  The day job may start to drift into the background soon - pension from it could be appearing quite soon.
Saturday was the Raft Race in Invergordon and the patchwork stall just made a profit on the day.  The pet show saw George winning a rosette.  He was the only big dog there and as he is very laid back he won't do tricks or wag his tail like a mad thing.  It was fun and not too serious which is good!

Busy, busy, busy!

Been a while - again!  I don't know where the time is going.   I've finally done some baking again today - seems like a long time since I did any and I've made a couple of lots of jam recently too.  Any more of this and it'll look like I'm really domesticated.  Tonight's job has been trying to list some stuff on ebay. If the old patchwork magazines don't sell it looks like the recycle bin will be VERY heavy!  They have to go and if I can sell them that's good - if not - oh well at least they are out of the way.  Time for bed now but it's too warm and I don't know if I'll sleep - I'm tired so need to give it a go.

Quilts and dogs

On the last 2 Saturdays I was out doing fairs and George was having a go at some shows too.  I'm quite convinced the first show judge did not like Pointers or she is blind!  Last Saturday, however, George got two rosettes. Another two thirds!  We need to raise our game!  Maybe some preparation instead of just turning up.
As for the quilting side - Saturday was a complete waste of time but on the previous Saturday I got the card machine to work and took some money which is now safely tucked up in my bank account!  I MUST now sew like stink and fill a couple of orders ready to crack on for the Highland Wool and Textile Fair and the dreaded "C" word which isn't that far away.  I've dug out some Advent calendars which weren't made up last year and some other stuff on order.  I just need to find the energy and time to sew.  Till next time!

A Good Day!

Well - I don't believe I've had a pretty good day for once!  The broken laptop is back and working without huge expense and several items sold over on the west coast. The purple throw I took over on Sunday has gone along with 3 tartan owls, a tartan purse and a tartan heart!  So much for re-stocking - the stock is down on what it was before!  The day job continues to get in the way but it does pay for stuff so it has to continue for now.  A couple of years might just see it off.  On a different note - the leaves are starting to turn and a couple of mornings have had a real autumnal feel.  It's dark about nine o'clock now and it looks like summer is virtually over.  Not sure I'm ready for cold weather just yet!  Ah well back to the sewing machine!

Busy weekend

Phew! I'm glad to relax after a very busy weekend. Started the day yesterday running around going to the bank, taking another broken laptop in for repair or the "last rites" and lots of similar tasks before visiting family.  Up at 7 this morning and instead of going back to bed with a cup of tea stayed "up"  and got on with the day.  I made it to Ullapool for 11.30. Usually it's after 12 and a rush to hand over stock for the shop.  I had to laugh in the afternoon - stopped on the way back to let George have a good run about.  Walking round town on the lead is not much fun for him.  At the end of Loch Glascarnoch the water level has dropped a lot and revealed an old road.  The mud on either side is very black, peat mud, and gets steadily wetter towards the water.  George ran around like an idiot and a white dog had become a black dog!  He trotted happily along the road and into the water which was shallow over the road and went quite a bit before running off to one side and splash!  Swimming!  When he came out of the water he was a white dog again. Job done, back on the lead and back to the car. Happy dog and happy car!

Never enough time!

Where have the last few days gone?  No blog done - tsk, tsk!  I have finished a purple throw and need to stuff and sew up a couple of owls. Another throw and a couple of purses to do and that lot can go over to Ullapool on Sunday.  I hope some stuff has been sold. It already feels like I've never been away from work despite a seven week break.  I've never felt less keen to get back to it but now it is all good again!  Just don't seem to have the energy to do both things these days - will it ever return?  I don't want to give up either at the moment but the day job will probably go first as it comes with a pension.  Some income will allow me to continue doing what I like best!!  Oh well, back to the sewing machine. 'Bye for now!

Busy today but no sewing done!  Finally got the Dyson out of the cupboard and my floors are visible again - dog hair gone for now. Shopping done and dog walked. I managed to dodge the rain too.  Back in from 1st dog walk just as the drops started. In the afternoon we avoided the rain again and took the washing in just before it started again.  Final dog walk of the day was dry too!  I need to find my dog to applique onto some cushions.  I have the cats and a couple of stags heads to try too but still need the dog. Maybe I'll try owls on cushions too as well as the little "toy" ones?  Time for bed again! Goodnight!

Back to the day job!

Well the school holidays are over :(  It's back to work on Monday but I hope to keep this going as much as possible.  Today's craft fair wasn't brilliant.  Didn't lose money but didn't exactly make it either.  It was a beautiful day and I'd forgotten how quiet and pretty Portmahomack is!  I really need to do lots of sewing tomorrow as I need to deliver more stock to the west coast. More owls to make and I must take some photos of them before they go. For now I need to take my headache off to bed and try to get a decent sleep.

Oops! Missed last night - fell asleep again and didn't wake till 2.30am.  Loads of cutting out done last night but no sewing.  Might get some of that done in a few minutes.  Doing a craft fair tomorrow but not convinced it will be worthwhile.  It's a day out and I'll have a good gossip if nothing else.  I've not been to Portmahomack for ages so it will be good to go there again.

I'm baffled as to how anyone can possibly think that REPLICA WATCHES are relevant to patchwork.  More spamming rubbish.  I don't do replicas - the real thing or nothing for me! :)

More ticks on the list

Another two ticks on my "to do" list today.  Hair cut, just need to get it dyed now - couple of days time!  All the empty bottles and jars have gone  - that was seven and a half months worth of glass! That is usually done every school holidays but I missed Easter this year.  Easter was early  and too soon after my Mother passed away.  We were still sorting her stuff.  Tomorrow could be an interesting day - let's see what it brings!
